Renovated Beacon Hill

After 30 years, the Beacon Hill has been renovated.  Both the exterior and interior have gotten a face lift.

The Greenleaf Beacon Hill was the first house that I built from a quality kit.  It is a large dollhouse, measuring approximately 32" W X 17" D x 40" H).  It took months to put together the individual windows.  (Years later, I discovered RGT (Real Good Toys) kits which had pre-constructed windows...what a breeze!)  Although the Greenleaf kits are beautifully designed houses, the wood is poor quality.  The pieces must be punched out, splintering the wood.  Plan on plenty of time sanding and filling in defects with wood putty, a trick I only discovered after building several Greenleaf kit houses.

The pictures below depict the original dollhouse, before the renovation.

This bedroom furniture changed when I managed to find these Concord pieces. Decades ago I bought the grey night stand and just recently discovered the bed and dresser on eBay.  What a thrill to find them!

3rd Floor Nursery and Center Hall (Note Caco doll on left).  I made the puppet theater after seeing one in an English dolls house magazine. The jardinière seen on the far right is a copy of one also from an English miniature magazine.
