The Brookwood, 2001
The Brookwood is a Greenleaf kit. My version of this house has gone through extensive kitbashing. I found the original kit failed to provide enough rooms, so I added a lower level.
2017 Re-vamp
The original kit only had two levels. My dad helped me add the lower level in order to include space for a kitchen and den.
It was an unusual build, constructed around the interior fireplace.
A fresh coat of stain and some additional trim has been added to smooth out the rough edges.
The edges of wood in a Greenleaf kit are very rough. I covered that with pieces of basswood stip.
The lower level contains a kitchen and a den, which is really a man cave. I had the pool table, but it was missing the balls and pool sticks, so I made the balls from clay and the sticks from toothpicks. The foosball table was found at a gas station's touristy section.
The kitchen is very rustic.
I made the TV from a picture I found online of a real one. Shirley Temple may seem a bit out of place in this environment, but she was my childhood favorite, so I included her. The rug was cut from a placemat.
The den contains several items including a lamp made from a bead and a cupcake liner for a shade. It's contents have grown over the years as I ran across items I fel would fit.
The pottery on top of the cabinet was made from Sculpty.
The dreamcatcher was a necklace pendant.
The deer head was a Christmas ornament.
I made all the furniture in this room from basswood. The lamp was made from a bead and the rug from a placemat.
I replaced the sunroom plastic that came with the kit with plexiglass and trimmed the wooden supports with basswood strips.
The chairs in the sunroom are from the "Take A Seat" collection by Raines.
All the wallpaper in this house is actually real sized wallpaper I found at a salvage store.
New bedroom furniture made to give more of a Southwestern look.
The chair in this room is another "Take A Seat" by Raines.
The rug was cross-stitched to fit the color and the theme.
The brass bed by Clare-Bell Brass works, was an anniversary gift.
The bearskin rug was made from a piece of fake for fabric.
Another favorite piece in this room is the yarn wider.
2001 Original Build
2017 updating the house, giving it a fresh coat of stain and adding some trim to smooth the rough edges.
I added a bottom floor and covered the front of the house with stones made from Sculpty clay. What a fantastic house!
The hot tub and planters came with the kit.
Left side sun room.
The directions start the construction of this house with the fireplace.
I made the sofa, chairs, tables, fireplace and shelf. The sunroom chairs were Christmas ornaments.
I added a lower level which contains kitchen and den.
I made the TV from a picture I saw online. I had to put Shirley Temple on the screen as she is one of my favorites!
The lamp is made from a bead and the shade is made from a cupcake liner.
Most of the pottery is actually beads. I reupholstered the Shackman couch and chair.
